At this time each year, Geneva Switzerland becomes home to one of the most exclusive and most glamorous auto shows on the planet. This year Maserati chose this special event to debut an all-new prototype called the Alfieri Concept. Images of this vehicle surfaced at the beginning of the week and we were amazed with what we saw.
We have known for some time that Maserati had a new concept car in the works, but we never expected this. The new Alfieri Concept is a two-door sports coupe with a serious focus on performance. For a long time, the GranTursimo was the only two door model in the product line but with popularity of the brand growing, we suspect that more drivers will be leaving companies like Porsche for sports cars like this.
Taking a good look at the Alfieri Concept, and we see that the designers at Maserati wanted to take this vehicle in a new direction while still holding on to the essential DNA needed to clearly define it as a Maserati. The hood is long and sweeping with the iconic downward lean towards the grille. New aggressive headlamps give the impression the car is in motion even when its parked.
Under the hood, the Alfieri is equipped with the 4.7-liter V8 engine that can currently be found in the GranTurismo. This was one beautiful concept, and we highly recommend that that you seek out some more information on your own.
Company officials have stated that while the Alfieri concept is a step in the right direction, we shouldn’t expect it to end up on the production lines any time soon.
